Creative Critical Reflection Question #1

"How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?"

This magazine is a very unique magazine that goes after a specific group of people, but at the same time anybody can be interested in the magazine as it is a magazine that is very unique. It challenges usual magazine conventions because not only is it an all sports magazine, it also gives stories on local sports, state-wide sports and professional sports, and it gives advice to any/everyone reading the magazine on any given sport. It is targeting those who want to hear about local sports, but that is only about 1/4-1/2 of the magazine, and the rest is filled with other useful sports information.
The camera shots are very high quality, and are usually action shots, to let the reader experience the action through the page. If the shots were not action shots, then it would be boring and not as fun to read. The whole point of a sports magazine is too show the sports being played, and if there are no action shots, they cannot experience the sport in action.
The stories dive deep into the life of those interviewed, and they have extra details that other magazines fail to mention. Other sports magazines interview the main person that is featured, and ask him generic questions about his career and his favorite moment in the sport. This magazine also does that but it also gets personal with the main character and his family. Carson and his parents are featured in the article and answer questions regarding his personal life and past. Other magazines fail to do this.
The text and font are very easy to read and see as there may be people of older age with vision loss trying to read it, as they are a part of the targeted audience. This is a use of a convention and not a challenge because may magazines do this for this exact reason. It also makes the magazine appear to be more professional and have structure.
The social groups that are represented are specifically sports teams, players, coaches, and fans or family. There will be several stories on every high school and professional sport. The social groups in the audience that are being targeted are not by age, but instead by interest of sports, local or just in general. The people that are included in the magazine are all related to a sport of some sort, with some being players, coaches, or professionals.

The picture on the table of contents was too generic and did not have any action, and I was planning to meet with Carson (the person in all of the pictures) to have another shoot in which I could obtain more photos of him playing. I was hoping to ask him a couple more questions and put more quotes from him into the article. The question I planned to ask were "If golf does not work out, what do you plan to do", "Where do you see yourself in 10 years?" and "What professional golfer/ person do you look up to?". These would have created a friendly interaction that the audience could relate ...

Project 4

Project 2 revision On October 25, 1938, the United States Congress passed the Fair Labor Standards Act, which established the first mandated minimum wage. The first wage was set at $0.25 per hour, which equates to $4.55 in 2020 with inflation (2009). In 2020, the federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. While states have manipulated this wage to fit cost of living, $7.25 is the federal law (2020).             Since 1938 the minimum wage has been increasing not only with inflation but to accommodate peoples wants for higher pay for work. In 2020, the mainstreamed new standard for minimum wage, which was set by the political left, is $15 per hour. The left proclaims that this is a “living wage” and allows people to not have to work as much to provide for themselves and their family. The political right is split between abolishing the minimum wage or keeping it the same. They claim that an increase in wages would consequently cause...
