Project Selection - My Decision

I have decided for my project to create a magazine. I have come to this conclusion because I believe it is the best fit for my set of skills. I have comprehensive computer skills to make the magazine, and have made several projects related to magazines before. I also enjoy creating articles and have great writing skills to aid me create the magazine content. One of the main factors in my decision was the apparent difficulty of creating a movie. It requires a script, actors, camera, and knowledge of how to make a good film. While I have this knowledge on film, my ability to write a great script and find actors or act it out myself did not seem like a good decision. As of now, I plan to create a magazine about local sports. It would be an informative magazine, with new updates regarding several popular local sports. Project Selection - Film

Film production has always interested me. I always enjoyed making funny videos with my friends, and editing the shots to make them funny or interesting. I also enjoyed creating scripts for us to speak which were creative and funny. This is the same in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, as there was multiple acting and speaking scenes which were hilarious. The script was set up for Ferris to speak directly to athe audience, breaking the 4th wall. Deadpool did the same thing, and both of them did it for comedic purposes. I can easily act, shoot, and edit the film with no issues, as it is something that i have done before. I however have never wrote out an entire script for a film that was not a comedy before though, and this may present a challenge. I also have never had to choose roles and assign actors before, which might be a challenge.

Project Selection - Magazine

In past observations, the research aspect of print journalism always intrigued me. The interviewing, the calls, the emails, all trying to get people to give information has always been something that has interested me. It is almost like a detective trying to get information from someone who won't talk, only you are trying to get certain information. My skills of quick thinking and fluent speaking translated into written form will help me fit in and write a good magazine article. I have always been creative and liked designing different things as well. The magazine style and structure will allow me to use this creativity and create an appealing magazine. One aspect that might challenge me is the formality in which it could detail. My vocabulary is strong, but not strong in formal writing and vocabulary, which some articles may require. I also am not fond of the format in which to write a magazine, but I am sure this will be changed through the school year.
